Interview

We spoke with Pete Lippincott, of Airhockey Live 360 about Live Score and his experience with broadcasting Airhockey.
Thank you for the interview.

1. Tell us something about you and your company/work?

Airhockey Live 360 or AHL360 is an airhockey channel for all things airhockey related.
We started this channel to bring all the different airhockey groups together onto one channel.

2. How did you find Live Score and what was your first impression?

We found Live Score when we were looking for some way to show scores on our feed.
On first impression we thought, what a great system.
We can have our interns keeping the score and someone separate for the timer.

We found there was a lot of thought pur into this system.

3. How do you use Live Score and how does it change the way you work?

We use this system at our weekly event in Houston Texas every Friday night and at our major events around the country.
It really helps portray our fastest table sport in the world correctly.

Technical-wise we are using OBS / Open Broadcaster Software with the Live Score software.
We have 2 spaces for people keeping score or keeping up with time outs on iOS devices.
One by the booth the other near the table.
We also incorporate www.brackelope.com into our feed and for our tournaments.
In the main scene we use green screen for replay, other cam angles, and sponsor/ad space.

The Live Score app tool will also allow us to share our data in real time with larger networks including Alexa and ESPN.
Sharing with ESPN and other sports networks is done with XML upload, private keys and such.
Sharing with our Alexa skill has to do with our blog RSS linked to Alexa servers.

We are soon incorporating a Celestron system with some NDI tricks, not live yet but still in development with our system.
Also with the Alexa app and having the Pro version of Live Score we can have updates of games in real time broadcast to people wanting updates of airhockey games using RSS and FTP upload. (excited to get this one working)

4. Which projects and shows have you been involved and what are you currently working on?

AHL360 works with the USAA United States Airhockey Association and the AHPA Airhockey Players Association and also covers the challenge matches between players all over the United States, Venezuela, Russia, and China.
Currently we are putting together a show for cable, Netflix, Apple TV, and Hulu to carry our sport to a bigger audience.
